GIFTS Online Administrator At Customer's Site Should Be Able To Reset A User's Login

When a user tries to log into GIFTS Online 5 times and fails, the user's GIFTS Online account is deactiviated. Then the MicroEdge Support Desk has to be called. Then a case has to be set up, and then the GIFTS Online client has to wait for up to an hour before the user's account is reactivated. This is an unnecessary waste of the GIFTS Online client's time, money and has a negative impact on productivity!  GIFTS Online Administrators at the customer's site should be able to reactivate a staff member's account within a few minutes and get that staff member back to work in GIFTS Online.

    Admin response

Thank you for voting for this Idea!

We've addressed this issue in a slightly different way than what's recommended here, but in a way which we believe will fully address the problem, protect the security of a user's account, and create the least amount of work for your staff. As of Q1 2017, when any GIFTS Online user tries the wrong password too many times in a row and their account becomes "locked out", they can now reset their own password by clicking the "Forgot password?" link on the login page. (This sends the user an email with a link they can use to reset their password).

Previously, this link would not work if the user's account had become locked out from too many incorrect password attempts. Now, each user can "self-serve" to recover access to their account, without needing to contact support or even the admin on their staff. Our research has shown that this is the fastest way to regain access to your account.

Please note, if a user attempts to reset their password, they may be asked to answer several Security Questions. If they enter the incorrect answers to their Security Questions multiple times in a row, their account will be deactiavted and they will not be able to finish resetting their password. In this rare case, calling Blackbaud support is still the only way to regain access to your account. This is designed to ensure the security of your account in these extreme cases, while still allowing you to recover access quickly in the majority of cases.

Please feel free to share your feedback here, or to create another Idea if you have any specific feedback on the new system. Thank you!
