Limit row height in tables even if some fields have a lot of text

  Thank you to everyone who has voted for this idea over the years! A solution very similar to what is described here was added in Grantmaking SKY view in 2021. Now after performing a search, you can find a toggle in the upper-right corner for "List view" or "Detail view". Detail view will expand all the rows to accommodate all that text (like reading a long document), but List View will keep your rows uniformly short (like viewing a spreadsheet). We've iterated on that feature a few times since it was first launched, to make it perform better, have better default behavior, remember your preferences, and display better in some circumstances.

  I'm going to close this idea (at long last!) - but I just wanted to say, if you have used the List view / Detail view toggle and that isn't meeting your needs, please feel free to submit a new Idea to this portal with your specific feedback! We are choosing to close this idea since we know for many people who have voted for it over the years, the new toggle solves the problem, but we don't assume that's universally true.
