edit merged attachment templates

Being able to attach merged templates to emails is almost nice, but we need to be able to edit the merged document!(like we had in Alta)

No matter how well the template doc is set up, almost every template form we send out must be edited, even if it is just a small punctuation fix from within a merge field.

So with the new functionality, it currently allows you to view the merged/attached document before you click on 'Generate Correspondence', but you cannot edit that document and send through the email.

So ultimately what we have to do is:

  • Create the merged doc, open it, make edits, save a copy to the computer files(outside of GIFTS Online)
  • Then, open a new email, and click on the 'Browse' option for attachments,
  • attach the edited doc from the computer,
  • and then send.

Defeats the purpose of GIFTS Online saving docs in its own database, and not having multiple copies of files all over the place.

An Idea that corresponds with this is GIFTSONL-I-513.

This would be a significant efficiency improvement, and save 30% or more of my team's time and effort when we're processing dozens of grant awards in a short timeframe! Voting enthusiastically yes!

I agree. This is an issue I am currently facing and it is taking me 3-4 days to approve my grantees, because the requirement form email template doesn't let me make edits once I batch the grantees.

Agreed. We're using this function to send grant agreements through email. While it has streamlined the process some, having to go through the steps you describe when a merged letter needs editing is cumbersome at best.
