Grant Technician role for GIFTS Online

In GIFTS Online there are only 3 user roles:  Grant Manager, Program Officer and Board (or View Only).  I suggest an additional user role, Grant Technician. I would like for the technician to have the ability to edit and add organization and contacts, create correspondence and run reports.  These are all auditable activities that are easily fixed if errors are made. The Technician role would not include the authorization to accept or approve/decline requests or to delete records.  Impact: Marking payments as "paid" is a simple, repetitive, but time consuming task. Assigning such tasks to an assistant under the oversight of a manager is a common management activity within most businesses.

Thank you for submitting your idea. I am pleased to report that in our GIFTS On-line 6.0 release on January 30th, 2016 we added 2 new roles: Client Administrator and Grant Associate.

Client Administrator – This role is intended to be the User role with the highest level of access in the system. This role will have all permissions by default, although this may vary by client.

Grant Associate – This role is similar yet distinct from the Program Officer role to allow clients to define access levels in a more granular way.

It sounds like the Grant Associate role would be a good fit for what you described as a need.

You can read more information in the 6.0 Release notes, found here: https://www.blackbaud.com/files/support/guides/microedge/giftsonline/giftsonlinereleasenotes.pdf or by contacting Support.
