Add a static date stamp into letter correspondence templates used for batch operations

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

If you use the Word 'Date' merge field in letter templates this field updates every time you open the document. A GIFTS Online merge field needs to be made available to prevent this from happening.

CURRENT FUNCTIONALITY:

When letters need to be edited in batch there is no way to retain the date they were originally generated in the document.

REASON FOR NEW FUNCTIONALITY:

Large numbers of letters created in this way need editing at a later day, but the date on them needs to remain the same for historical accuracy.

It would be useful to include a merge field option for documents create date so each particular letter that we create can use its original date it was created if that makes sense?

    Hello Vin

    1. The impression I got from the client I logged this on behalf of was that the former would be preferable.

    2. The date the document is first generated.

    Kind regards

    Greg

    Hi Greg -

Two quick questions about this idea:

    1. Is it more useful for the date to appear in the body of the Word document itself, so it can be printed out, etc.? Or, for it to appear as meta data within GIFTS Online, i.e. a field on the document record, so it can be searched on and reported on?
    2. Is it more useful for the date that gets recorded to be the date the Document is first generated? Or, for it to take some date from the Request record, i.e. the Grant Date (the date the grant was approved) or something like that?

Everyone else voting for this - feel free to comment with your thoughts, as well. Thank you!
