Being able to pull up all request docket write-ups being considered for board and printing these items in batch would save a lot of time when prepping for a board meeting.
Thank you Amy, that makes sense and I appreciate your frustrations with those aspects of the Merge to PDF feature. As we explore how viewing documents, generating documents, and printing documents will work in the new Blackbaud Grantmaking SKY View, we'll keep this feedback in mind.
Dear Vin--I work with Tessa, so I'm happy to address this.
Merging to PDF does, indeed, have limitations for us. First, our branding fonts are not common fonts in various systems, so we lose all of our formatting when we merge to PDF (it defaults to a weird font that doesn't work for our board materials). Additionally, the merge to PDF function adds its own headers and footers, so we cannot format our own.
Generally speaking, we would batch print things like docket write-ups for multiple requests for our board. When we used GIFTS Classic, we used to batch print to PDF and then combine into a single file, which allowed us to maintain our formatting and manipulate the document with our own headers and footers.
The fact that we have to go into each individual document to save it to PDF is really cumbersome and time consuming for us.
Hi Tessa - Thank you for submitting this idea! To help us better understand the need you're describing, can you answer a quick question for me? (Anyone else reading this can feel free to chime in as well, of course!)
Is this something you're able to accomplish by using the "Merge to PDF" functionality in GIFTS Online? Does that method have any drawbacks that make it less useful for you, today?
If you're not familiar with this functionality - you can try it by performing a search for Documents, selecting two or more documents, going to the "Actions" menu in the upper-right corner, and clicking the arrows until you see the "Merge to PDF" button. This lets you create one PDF with each document as separate pages (so you can print it once instead of printing multiple files).
