Please can you update the Help button area on this topic - it is not correct to what the menu functions actually gives us - and it doesnt make it clear on the changes of how to Edit a template that already exisits.
For example the help button says there should be an open function which there is not.
I also dont think its very clear that theres a major change here in functionality - theres now far more clicks and steps to do to open a template for editing (again now saving it out onto a computer drive, amending, then uploading) compared to just opening and amending and saving against the system in classic.
Just another concern of having to save things outside of the database elsewhere, do remember to clear down and delete later.
I think a better idea would be for Blackbaud to improve functionality and then they wouldn't have to update their help section.
We have watched a Blackbaud video showing how to do this and our systems do not behave the same way we are shown in the video. We are asked to search for source data with sql extension - there are many steps missing in the video.
The document template manager is unacceptably hard to work with in its current state - it needs some serious attention. We are looking at resorting to manually creating templates in Word at this rate and manually inserting the data which is absolutely ridiculous.
The way this is currently set up in SKY is unacceptable. It should have only taken me 5mins max to make a small change in a template, but it is taking 30+ mins to do it. I am able to follow the directions in the help bar, but the whole process is confusing and extremely time consuming. It is incredibly frustrating to have to unblock both the .doc and .mrg file each time you need to change a template and then have to manually link the .doc to the .mrg each time. This is not a good use of our time. In addition, this becomes extremely confusing when you have to make multiple changes to the same template and end up with various versions of the template downloaded with basically the same name. Please fix this, it is almost unusable.
I didn't realize there was a change to how we access and edit our document templates with SKY. I tried to change and edit a document and realized the merge field was not added before I saved on my Downloads area on my PC. So I had a hard time figuring out how to re-do the steps in order to see the newly inserted merged field. The unfortunate step to remember is to delete the already saved downloads before downloading the "doc" and "mrg" files again from SKY AFTER adding merged fields that did not exist on that template. It was a mess! I couldn't keep up with the correct docs to upload again so that the change would take effect. From what I can tell, you need to keep the naming convention of the word doc the same as what is in SKY, so deleting the previously downloaded file is necessary so that my PC doesn't rename the second download as XXXX(1).doc (additional number in parenthesis).
It took me over 30 minutes to try to make a small change in an existing template. I gave up and went over to Classic where it took me less than 1 minute to make the change. 1. Open Template, 2 Make the change, 3 Save.
Far too many steps and clicks in Sky View .
This is really unacceptable. The general document handling issues with SKY are subpar.
This is terrible (non-) functionality in my opinion - my team is really struggling with editing templates, and the unblocking files has to happen in a specific order, or you have to start over, and the downloading/uploading, is just really tedious, and so out of line with pretty standard functionality in other online applications.
As if by magic will now have things added to the on-deman library
Agreed! This is not productive!
Maybe we need a walkthrough of this adding to the On-Demand Library?
