Having to open the record, download, and then open the actual document for every document associated with a request is extremely time consuming. We frequently will have report forms with 30-40 attached documents, and the time it takes to open the document record, click the link to download, browse to where it's downloaded, and open the actual file for each of those 30-40 documents is ridiculous. It would be great, if we can't accommodate a document preview function, to be able select all documents needed and do a batch download of them, so it is one action, not 30. In Classic, you could open the HTML file and then click the links to open the documents - even that was faster.
Please do this. And we have to close all those green boxes that pile up currently.
We have to download a void cheque from every grantee and it takes hours !! Other times it's budgets. We don't need to edit the files, just select them all and then download them all in one fell swoop - this would save SO MUCH TIME!!!
Batch downloading large numbers of files is a great idea, for a number of reasons. Thank you for submitting this!
We're also exploring other ways to tackle the challenges of downloading, viewing, editing, saving, and re-uploading documents in SKY view today. We consider the future of editing documents in Grantmaking to be in the cloud, and we're investing in that future, but it will take a little while to get there.
In the meantime - I'm very interested in hearing more about your report forms with 30-40 files attached to them. Is that all from a single grantee on a single requirement form? What are the files? That's an unusually high number (unless of course this is the combined number for multiple records or something - sorry if I misunderstood!). Nothing wrong with that, of course - I'd just like to understand your use case better so we can serve you better. Thanks again!
Another benefit of having this as a batch open - we would only have one green box to close - currently we get one green box (File operation completed) for every document, which is a chore to close.
The system should be able to open each file (in the background) automatically as you ask to download it - similar to how exporting to excel opens the file in Excel straight away.
