Change Save Column Widths feature to save all columns which have been automatically sized first

The new feature (August 2021) to be able to save column widths in a view is great to have. However it has a couple of downsides:

  • It will only save one column at a time. This means you have to adjust a column width, save the settings, adjust another column, save the settings again and keep repeating until all columns are the width you want.

  • It will only save a column width if it has been adjusted by dragging the column border. This means I cannot save a column width after using the standard two-click option to size a column based on its contents. This may have been design to work like this because the contents of a column could vary. However there are many fields where the size limit is known, and this feature should work for those - such as a date field, the request reference number, or a code from a classification table.

This was not working as intended at the time this Idea was logged, but has since been fixed.

Unfortunately the system no longer saves the column widths - please fix again.

Agreed, resizing and saving one column width at a time is not efficient.
