Transfer all instances of a value in a Classification field to a different one

Please give us the ability to "transfer" or "update" all instances of a value in a Classification table to another value in the table. I have consolidated multiple outdated values in a table to one more all-inclusive new value in the table. But I have to search for the now obsolete values and manually assign the new value to each record one-by-one. There should be a "transfer" or "update" option in the Edit Classification table workflow.

Thanks for this suggestion! I think you should be able to do this today with the "Update coding sheet" batch action, but let me know if this process isn't working for any reason. If you're having trouble following these steps but it sounds like it would solve your problem, you can also create a case at https://support.blackbaud.com to get some one-on-one help. I hope this helps!

    1. Go to Control Panel > Classifications, create your new classification values, and save.

    2. Go to Full Search > find all requests where that code field is set to the old cold value. Perform the search.

    3. In the search results, Select All. (if there are many results, you'll have to do this on multiple pages of results).

    4. In the actions menu, click "Update > Coding Sheet"

    5. In the "Update coding sheet" modal, click "Replace a code". Select the old value and the new one you want to change it to. (If you're consolidating 2 code values into 1 new one, you might need to repeat this process separately for the second code value). Click Update.

Nope, not a Coding Sheet value. It's a Classification table, specifically the Tax Status table. Updating a Coding Sheet value on an Organization record does not give me access to the Tax Status table. When editing the table value, it would be nice to have a "transfer" or "update" option there as well, to replace one value with another. I had to manually change the value in the Tax Status field for almost 1,000 records when I "consolidated" a few of table values into one.
