Original Idea text: Now, after entering a new contact we return to "add" screen - but add contact is not an option so you have to click back to main screen and then to add contact.
Added by Blackbaud: Today, on the Dashboard, you can select "Add a new record" and select most record types. (There are a few that cannot normally be added outside of the context of another record). If you add a new record from here, i.e. a contact, you are brought to the Workspace with a tab open for the new record. When you click "Save and close", you remain in the workspace.
The empty state for the Workspace, however, has options to add a Request or an Organization, but not Contacts or other record types. So, if you want to add several Contacts in a row, you have to continue returning to the Dashboard every time you want to do so.
The original suggestion here is to return the user to the dashboard when they click Save and Close, if that was the context they started in when creating the new record. (That request has also been logged in another Idea for other reasons unrelated to creating new records). However we may also be able to address this by adding options for adding other record types from the empty Workspace page (and we should probably do that either way). So, we've updated this idea to reflect that alternate way of tackling it. Please leave a comment if this would not solve the problem at the heart of the original idea. Thank you!
This would be so helpful.
This would be helpful - adding from the workspace OR returning to dashboard - there are too many clicks to accomplish this task. Thank you!
Absolutely need the option to add a contact record from the empty workspace. An inconvenience and interruption of flow to jump back to the dashboard for a new contact. Seems like an oversight.
