When we are reviewing a stage one form submitted via the new portal and publish a request form (previously called "Generate Stage 2") in the Request record to move it to the next stage of our application process, there is no automatic confirmation for the user that the action was successfully completed. As a work around, we are having to check the Activities record of each request to make sure the additional request form was published.
Having a green alert/toast message that appears in the bottom right hand corner (and times out) that confirms the request form was successfully published would be more helpful. I believe this was how the Generate Stage 2 button worked with forms submitted via the old Legacy Portal.
