Allow character/word limits on the fields in the contact table

Currently, there is no way to add character/word limits to the specific fields in the contact table. This creates a HUGE problem, if the applicant goes over the character limit, unknowingly. We have a custom field that has a 50 character limit. An applicant can enter more than 50 characters in that field within the application and submit the application without an error message. THEN, when we "consider" the request, the system will not allow us to. WE GET THE ERROR MESSAGE. We, then, need to ask the applicant to resubmit, after correcting the issue. This takes a huge amount of time and is going to be impossible to do when we receive hundreds of applications on the due date.

I had to send back 90% of applications to ask applicants to adjust their job title as i could not process them into the system where character limits were exceeded. A lengthy and frustrating process over something that should be avoidable.

It is completely illogical that they enforce a character limit that nobody knows? If they want to set a character limit, they need to identify when the applicant is at or over the character limit on the application.
