In Classic View, we were able to check out and edit documents and check them back in. In SKY, we we do not have this feature and have to save documents to your computer and reupload. We should be able to edit and save these documents within the system.
If the check-in/check-out feature is brought back, there should be an option to turn it off and allow staff to upload replacement documents. We have 45 universal users and were only using Mozilla Firefox with GO because it didn't require the check-in/check-out feature like Internet Explorer. When we did try to use IE long ago, it was common for staff not to check the document back in and then no one could make updates which caused issues. You also can't delete the document if it isn't checked-in even as an admin which was also a problem.
This wastes an enormous amount of time and needs to be fixed immediately.
I agree with this 100%! The way it is now tremendously increases the amount of time it takes when preparing large volumes of documents using templates. Downloading documents, editing and then uploading the documents back into Grantmaking also increases the margin of error. I see that this now has 130 votes since March 11, 2021 (over a year!). Why has this issue not been addressed?

I agree, Picheska Marrero. So frustrating that we don't even receive a courtesy acknowledgment. Let alone any action. Frustrating to have to work with these inefficient processes.
124 votes begging for a return of the check in/check out feature and it just sits here with "Voting Open" for almost a full year. No other updates or comments or even acknowledgement from Blackbaud. This is why our organization is doing an analysis on whether or not we leave the platform entirely.
This missing feature is greatly missed - the workflow has become quite inefficient!
This is a critical feature and should be added. The current process of downloading and uploading is inefficient and disrupts workflow.
This creates unnecessary extra steps and makes it challenging to collaborate on documents, something that is key to our team's success. Please change to check-in/check-out.

I absolutely agree with this! It has created a huge issue, because I wasn't aware that this feature didn't carry over to SKY view, so I now have to make sure the correct docs are saved in Blackbaud. The process of saving the document, editing and reuploading is incredibly time-consuming. Users need to be able to save documents directly in Blackbaud.
Are there any updates to this? I heard they may be considering implementing this but cannot find any concrete proof.
This is a MUST-HAVE feature. Any work around is cumbersome, time consuming, and full of security issues.
Agree with Emily - The check out/check in feature has always been a bit sticky with us (system logs out, no one remembers the domain details/it doesnt except the password (even though we havent changed it)) and ultimately they give up and download a version to work on instead.
However I have concerns on privacy data downloading things to drives that we then have to ensure policy is deleted/cleared out.
There must be a better way to keep it in the system, without the faff of check out/check in.
I prefer the check out/check in feature as opposed to saving locally then uploading back. How will other users know who is editing the document and which version is the most recent that contain all of the changes/updates?
I don't necessarily want the check in/check out back, but I could see it being helpful if down the line if there was some way to edit the documents in the system without the uploading (like Google docs/sheets, or Microsoft's online versions of their products)? Or at the very least, could there be less clicks to open the document? Or a way to know if someone else is working on a particular document so we aren't replacing documents over one another?
The new need to download 2 files and upblock both is more complicated than the check in/check out feature. It is incredibly inefficient.
I didn't realize what the fuss was all about until I tried to edit a Document Template. It's such a hassle to find the file--which doesn't have the same name as the file in BBGM--edit that file, and then upload it. Please fix. Thank you.
This functionality is INTEGRAL to workflow. Please please please find a way to improve this process. With the SKY Process, having documents save to local drives is not only inefficient but time-consuming and creates errors.
