In classic view it is possible to check out and edit documents. I assumed SKY View would offer a more efficient system for editing documents with less steps/clicking involved. I was astounded to see that it is not even possible to edit a document in SKY view. This is an essential feature that I trust you are currently refining. Please let me know the status. Thank you.
We have worked hard to become almost paper free but it's also hard not to look back when you know that the paper based process would be faster than the online process. As an example we generate a Write-up for eligibility checking of new applications and complete it online in BBGM - it would actually be quicker to tick a piece of paper but we are persevering and at least when you hit 'Save' it will step you through the 'Check In'. Now in SKY the WriteUp is saved - to the PC, not the system, and the extra steps of downloading, uploading/replacing and making sure the latest version is selected is definitely slower again (than BBGM) and therefore less efficient. And there are significant concerns that the completed file in Downloads may not be selected to replace the file in SKY. Lastly, we need to remember to delete the files in Download - they should only be in the SKY system - not on the PC and the SKY system. Please streamline this currently very inefficient process.
I just realized this today. This is terribly inconvenient and time consuming. I was under the impression that SKY would make the former check in check out more efficient as well. I see no notes of Blackbaud working on this.
The other issue with downloading is with a Write-up document--the name is just a bunch of letters/numbers. If program staff are working to complete numerous write-ups that they download, unless they do a save-as and give a meaningful name, it is very difficult to upload replacement since all the files will have the same meaningless names and they will not know which file to use for the replace.
